Tri-band 2G and 3G Mobile Phones
Triband mobile phones are different from other cell phones, as it supports three frequency bands. Due to this characteristic, these phones really offer better coverage in different locations within the same country. In fact, this technology has also been found to be very effective in case of roaming between different countries. The frequency bands used by several countries to their mobile networks are different. Triband mobile phones, as its name suggests, are used primarily in three of these frequency bands. In general, these two bands used by mobile phones in their country of origin and one of the country in which the user is roaming. But, even when you are roaming in Europe, Asia or Africa, that would work well. LG KE820 (900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz) and Motorola V300 (850 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz) are excellent examples of tri-band 2G mobile phones. 2G quad-band phones are also available these days and are very well loved because they offer better coverage.
3G mobile phones operate in UMTS frequency bands 850/1700/2100 MHz or 850/1900/2100 MHz Some people have the misconception that all 3G mobile phones are tri-band GSM, which is not right. If the phone is 3G does not necessarily mean that it is also GSM. But, it is right that nearly all 3G phones are EDGE quad band too.
